BLUEGRASS CHAPTER KCCD MEMBER DONATED THANKSGIVING BASKETS TO 15 FAMILES!

The KCCD Bluegrass Chapter recently partnered with The Learning Center at Linlee, a Lexington area school, in providing Thanksgiving Baskets to the Families of 13 students at the school and two correctional families at Blackburn Correctional Complex. The Bluegrass Chapter provided the baskets and all of the food items to make Thanksgiving Dinner for Families of 4 to 6. These items were taken to The Learning Center and assembled by Bluegrass Chapter members and Students and then delivered to the families by Chapter members. Being able to provide Thanksgiving Dinner to 15 families that were in need was a great project to work on and the Bluegrass Chapter plans to continue its new partnership with The Learning Center in the future.  Click the link below to watch a short video of the event!

BLUEGRASS CHAPTER KCCD HAS BECOME INVOLVED WITH THE "SHOOTING AT SUCCESS" PROGRAM, DEVELOPED BY UK HOOPS STAR KASTINE EVANS!

The Bluegrass Chapter has recently become involved in working with a program called "Shooting at Success".  This program was developed by UK Hoops shooting guard Kastine Evans, and it benefits underprivileged children in the Lexington area, between second and third grade.  "Shooting at Success" teaches life lessons on building character.  In an effort to build character in kids, Evans repeatedly references honesty, discipline, sacrifice, and opportunity.  The Bluegrass Chapter sponsored Kastine and the "Shooting at Success" program, through the purchase of t-shirts for the children.  We are very excited to become more involved with Kastine and "Shooting at Success" once school returns to session this fall!

BIG BROWN TRUCK PULL NETS $1345.21 FOR SPECIAL OLYMPICS!

The Big Brown Truck Pull for Special Olympics Kentucky is a truly unique fundraising event that gives companies and organizations from throughout Central Kentucky the chance to pull their weight for Special Olympics.  The day includes a fun, festive atmosphere and great prizes.  The Big Brown Truck Pull works just like a Walk-A-Thon, but with one big twist.  Participants still solicit donations to support their effort, but instead of walking, pull teams take their turn playing Tug-O-War with a huge UPS 18-wheeler.  The Bluegrass Chapter KCCD raised a total of $1345.21 for Special Olympics.  KCCD is very proud of the Bluegrass Chapter and their huge contribution to aid Special Olympics in Central Kentucky.

Bluegrass Chapter KCCD Members who participated in the event include:  Allison Medley, Tim Taulbee, Kim Garnett, Miranda Gray, Laura Tenbarge, Nick Helmburg, Heather Helmburg, Sharon Johnson, Douglas Johnson, Jon Lauth, Jeff Oliver, Danny Spurlock, Eric Sizemore, Brandon Lynch, and Angie Turner.
